How To Stop Your Spam Filter Becoming Too Big For Its Boots
Simple Instructions For Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo

Here are simple instructions for preventing a regular newsletter from being sent to the spam or junk mail folder for the top three email providers: Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo Mail. I used ChatGPT to create them because IT is boring and I’ve got interesting new shows to research. Be assured that this newsletter is almost 100% human-generated and on the rare occasion when I use an AI application I will always tell you.
Gmail
Move the email to the Primary tab:
Open Gmail and go to the Promotions or Spam folder.
Drag the newsletter email into the Primary tab.
Gmail will ask if you want to always place emails from this sender in Primary. Click Yes.
Add the sender to your contacts:
Open the email and hover over the sender’s name.
Click Add to Contacts (or select "More Info" and then "Add to Contacts").
Create a filter:
Click the search bar at the top of Gmail and type the sender’s email address.
Click Show search options (small icon at the right of the search bar).
Click Create filter, then select Never send it to Spam and click Create filter.
Outlook (Hotmail, Live, MSN)
Mark the email as "Not Junk":
Go to the Junk Email folder.
Right-click on the newsletter email and select Not Junk.
Add the sender to the safe senders list:
Open the email, click on the sender’s name, and select Add to Safe Senders.
Create a rule to keep emails in the inbox:
Click the Settings gear icon (âš™) and choose View all Outlook settings.
Go to Mail > Rules > Add a new rule.
Name the rule, select From and enter the sender’s email.
Choose Move to Inbox and click Save.
Yahoo Mail
Mark the email as "Not Spam":
Go to the Spam folder.
Find the newsletter email, click it, then click Not Spam at the top.
Add the sender to your contacts:
Open the email and hover over the sender’s name.
Click Add to contacts and save the sender’s email.
Create a filter to keep emails in the inbox:
Click Settings (âš™) > More settings > Filters.
Click Add new filter, name it, and enter the sender’s email under From contains.
Choose Move to Inbox, then click Save.
