This week it’s been all about The Man. I’m plotting a substantial e-marketing campaign for the newsletter in association with Reach Plc. The marketing push is being paid for by my Business Angel, a longstanding Afro-American friend. He’s the son of a Tennessee sharecropper and has — with relentless hard graft and an essential dash of skilled mentoring -- built a small fortune working in the Californian tech industry.
What we have in common — as well as a shared taste for champagne — is exasperation with the discouraging ‘wokeness’ that now saturates many previously distinguished educational and cultural institutions. This includes my alma mater Somerville College, with whom I have been exchanging correspondence about why they are making students complete an unconscious bias questionnaire.
