The past few days have been all about promoting equal access to primary health care. As part of the fightback over the closure of our local village sub-surgery (which follows on disastrously from the withdrawal of the bus service), I’ve been getting my head round the Health And Social Care Act 2012. And local care commissioning structures. And the labrynthine nature of NHS accountability.
It’s all new territory for me, so it’s taking time. I keep going into mental attack-dog mode, assuming bad faith on the part of the authorities. Cynicism about the futility of resistence on the local Facebook community boards is rife. Beware Of The Leopard. But then I call someone in the NHS for information, and they’re friendly and helpful… I guess we’ve all been burned by so-called ‘consultation’ exercises in other spheres.
