It’s looking good for fans of outdoor theatre. Shows are opening across the region and the weather is set fair for at least the next couple of weeks. Even in a normal summer, this can be a magical experience in which the beauty of the setting and the quality of the picnic are at least as important as the show. Throw in some post-lockdown euphoria and who knows what wonders may happen. From the John Godber Company’s Moby Dick adaptation in Hull docks (see Star Choice below) to The Great Gatsby at Harewood House (Jun 4, £11.50-£18.50), there are treats in store.
But as I found out from talking to Pete Toon at Mikron Theatre Company, the extra work that has gone into touring safely this year has been colossal.
