Yorkshire Theatre Newsletter: Liz Ryan reacts to Sheffield Theatre's epic production of Rock Paper Scissors by Chris Bush

"The script was heightened, fast-paced, funny — and the fact that I’d fallen in love with this gaggle of bright but neglected kids made me want to smack the heads of the grown-up characters."
Interesting. I love the idea of a well formed character from one play with a whole story arc of their own just turning up as plot furniture ( from the point of view of the second play's characters) ,in another play.
The "dashing about" plays I remember were Ayckbourn's "House" and "Garden" at the National back in the 90s, I think. I saw Garden, and it was lots of fun. Afterward, the cast held a fake fete for charity, with the actors manning the stalls (selling, eg, commercial jam with homemade labels slapped on) Fenella Fielding was in the house that night, and they roped her in to open the "fete". Ok, yes, A lot fluffier than the ambitious Rock, Paper, Scissors, but it certainly interested me in seeing other multistage productions!
Interesting piece, and the play sounds interesting!!
Lovely reviewing Ms Ryan, you have a gift

Ouch! Editors exist for a reason. That should be Chris Bush in the strapline -- not Chris Rock. 😳
